The Dixons, Brooklyn NY.

Old-school honky tonk, straight from Brooklyn. I took these pics at Grand Victory a few weeks back.  Great band...great show!

Daddy Long Legs

Daddy Long Legs. NYC. 2012.

I met Brian Hurd several years ago, when he just moved to the city. He was my friend Pete's new roommate.  Brian was only 19 years old.  I remember he was a sweet kid, and he still is. His band Daddy Long Legs is my favorite new band.  I first saw them play at the Norton Records 25 year anniversary, back in November at the Bell House.  But Brian played the harmonica on the street for me outside of Don Pedro's about 5 years ago on Halloween, while I snapped away... and I was pretty blown away by his raw undiscovered talent. Well his band is just as amazing. And of course my favorite drummer Josh Styles, from Stalkers fame, helps add to the festivities. I love when Josh plays the maracas!

But more than anything I love when a fresh young band has so much energy and talent, and they give everything on stage.  It helps me get the most amazing photos, like i did this evening. I was exhausted after their set from shooting...they're really amazing!

Miss Ruby Ann

I did a sitting with the lovely rockabilly singer Ruby Ann about 2 years ago in NYC. These pictures were for her upcoming CD cover art. However, Ruby Ann moved back to France shortly after and her release got pushed back. She ended up doing a shoot overseas and went with another photographer's images (that's show biz!). I finally "dusted" these off.  Ruby Ann is a Portuguese beauty and we had a great time shooting together. I'm very happy with the way they came out.  They remind me of old film stills from the 40's-50's.
